A/N: I got the idea from an entry in LGMH and it was written rather quickly so I'm sorry if it's not that good ^^;; When they're talking in sign language the words are in italics okay :)
Summary: Kibum doesn't want to introduce Jinki to his parents.
Kibum was sitting on one of the benches waiting for his boyfriend to show up. Being in different grades they never had the same classes so they always met up after school to hang out.
“Ugh. Hurry up Jinki~” Kibum whined as he slouched back and looked at the time on his phone. “That idiot’s 10 minutes late!”
Another 5 minutes had passed and Kibum was ready to go find his boyfriend himself and kick him in the foot for not showing up. Kibum stood up and was about to get his backpack when he could hear someone running up to him. He looked up and saw Jinki standing in front of him, out of breath but still smiling like the idiot he is.
“Hi Kibum” He said in between breaths.
“You’re late!” Kibum took his backpack and smacked him with it.
Rubbing his shoulder Jinki apologized. “I’m sorry but I had to run to the store to buy these!” he lifted up his both hands. In one hand was a bouquet of flowers and in the other was a bag with a box of dark chocolates.
“Aww did you buy these for me?” Kibum smiled and reached out to grab the flowers only to have Jinki pull back. “Of course not! They’re for your parents!”
Kibum eyes widened “My pa-parents?!”
“Yup. You told me last week that you would take me to see your parents today!” Jinki smiled widely as he grabbed Kibums backpack and started walking.
Jinki walking away snapped Kibum out of his shock and ran to catch up with him. “Wa-wait! We can’t go see them!” he grabbed onto his boyfriends arm and held him back.
“But you promised.” Jinki pouted.
Trying to distract himself from looking at the adorable pout on Jinki’s lips Kibum stared at the flowers. “We can do it another day…” he whispered.
Somehow putting everything in one hand Jinki used his free arm to lift Kibums chin and make him look at him in the eyes. “You’ve been saying that for over three months. We’ve been going out for almost a year now and I’ve never greeted them properly!”
The sad look in Jinkis eyes was the last straw so Kibum sighed and nodded. Jinki smiled and pulled his boyfriend to start walking home.
Half an hour later Jinki found himself walking through the front door of Kibums house.
He watched in confusion as Kibum silently entered the house and started walking to the living room.
‘Isn’t he going to call out that he’s home?’ Jinki wondered but kept quiet and simply followed him.
He entered the living room to find both of Kibums parents on the couch. Mr. Kim was reading a newspaper while Mrs. Kim was knitting a light pink scarf.
Without a word Kibum walked in front of them to make his presence known. It worked as both of them looked up and smiled to greet him only to frown at the look on their sons face.
Jinki almost dropped the bouquet of flowers in his hands as he watched Kibum move his hands and communicate to his parents. After a few seconds of gesturing back and forth both his parents smiled and nodded as they stood up and walked towards Jinki.
“These are my parents Jinki.” Kibum said softy as he stood in the center on the side. “They’re deaf. They were in accident a few years ago that made them lose their hearing.”
Jinki simply looked at his boyfriend with surprised eyes for a second before his eyes softened and a gentle smile pulled his lips. ‘So it wasn’t because he was ashamed of having me as a boyfriend.’ He thought and looked back towards his parents who were simply smiling ‘He was afraid of how I would react.’
Pulling Kibum’s backpack off his shoulder and putting it on a nearby couch Jinki positioned himself in front of both his parents and with a huge smile bowed deeply and introduced himself. “Hello. My name is Lee Jinki, Kibum’s boyfriend.” He handed the flowers to Kibums mother and the bag of chocolates to his father. “Kibum told me you liked sweets so I hope you like them.”
Kibum’s head snapped up as he looked at Jinki introduce himself and if it wasn’t for the fact that his parents were in the room he probably would have let the tears forming in his eyes fall. It seemed like there was a huge weight of worry lifted off his shoulder and he laughed softly in relief.
For about an hour or so Kibum took witnessed as his parents interact with his boyfriend happily. His father had challenged Jinki to a game of chess and his mother brought him every snack in their house as she founded over how cute he was when he tried to concentrate on his next chess move.
After losing three games straight Jinki announced to Kibums surprise that it was time for him to go.
Kibum walked Jinki to the door after he had bowed goodbye to his parents and swallowed the entire slice of cake Mrs. Kim had just handed him.
“Thank you.” Kibum whispered softly while looking at the floor as the two of them were outside the gate.
“Kibum.” Jinki made Kibum look up and quickly covered his boyfriend’s soft lips with his own.
With a smile and wave Jinki started walking home as Kibum stayed there rooted in spot, his face burning red.
“YAH JINKI!” Kibum yelled as soon as he regained his senses and realized what happens. Jinki didn’t turn around but broke into a run until he rounded the corner and was out of sight.
Kibum smiled and giggled as he watched his boyfriend trip three times before he was finally out of sight. With a sigh he turned around and started walking back into the house only to blush once again when he noticed his parents looking at him through the window and duck out of sight when their eyes made contact.
“I’m going to kill you Lee Jinki.” Kibum tried to calm his beating heart and burning cheeks as he cleared his throat and walked into his house.
However Kibum never got his revenge as he hadn’t seen his boyfriend for a week since that day.
He had waited for over an hour at their usual spot after school only to end up walking home by himself. He tried texting and calling Jinki but he would never answer his phone calls or reply to his text messages.
Kibum knew it was because of his parents. “That’s why I didn’t want to introduce them!” Kibum cried at night one day after sending another text message he knew he would never get a response to.
It was one of the only times Kibum was grateful his parents couldn’t hear as he simply cried his eyes out.
“I thought you were different Jinki…”
Kibum was woken up the next morning by the unusual amount of noise going on downstairs. He groaned as he stood up and stretched his arms. Putting on his slippers Kibum dragged his feet downstairs only to find a certain smiling idiot playing chess with his father.
Kibum was already walking towards them ready to slap his so called “boyfriend” for ignoring him for a week and then showing up here like nothing’s wrong but his feet stopped and were frozen on the ground when he watched Jinki lifts his hands up and communicate with his father.
“You’re very good at this game, sir! I can never win.”
“Haha why thank you. I’ve had my years of practice.”
“Ah thank you for the cake Mrs. Kim!”
“You’re welcome sweetie. I have plenty more so eat up!”
After a few seconds Jinki looked over and noticed him. Gesturing an “excuse me” he stood up and walked over to Kibum who was staring at him with a hard expression.
“I’m sorry for ignoring you this past week. I found a class that teaches sign language and I wanted to learn it as soon as possible so I took the class right after school everyday until 9pm. I wanted to surprise you…I’m sorry.”
With now soft eyes Kibum looked up at his boyfriend and smiled, moving forward and wrapping his arms around his neck. “I missed you.”
“I missed you more.” Jinki whispered back and wrapped his arms securely around his waist. “I love you Kibum.”
“I love you too you idiot.” Kibum said as he tightened his hold and snuggled against his boyfriends neck.
Of course the moment was broken when a suddenly flash went off and the two of them pulled apart to see Kibum’s mother with a camera in her hand and his father smirking at them while gesturing:
“So when am I getting grandchildren?”
